What is LSU4.9 Motorsport Technology?
The LSU4.9 Motorsport (0258988001) is Bosch's premium racing-grade wideband oxygen sensor, specifically engineered to exceed the already high standards of the standard LSU4.9 sensor. This motorsport version features enhanced construction with superior vibration and heat resistance, making it ideal for the extreme conditions found in racing, high-performance street applications, and dyno testing. Unlike traditional narrowband oxygen sensors that only detect stoichiometric air-fuel ratios (14.7:1), wideband sensors measure across the entire air-fuel ratio spectrum from rich to lean. The LSU4.9 Motorsport offers the highest level of accuracy, fastest response times, and exceptional durability under the most demanding conditions. This sensor is the industry standard for professional engine tuning, motorsport applications, and performance vehicle development.
Motorsport vs Standard LSU4.9
The 0258988001 Motorsport version offers significant advantages over the standard 0258017025:
- Enhanced Vibration Resistance - Withstands extreme vibration from racing engines and harsh road conditions
- Superior Heat Tolerance - Operates reliably in high-temperature exhaust environments
- Motorsport-Grade Construction - Built to professional racing standards for maximum durability
- Extended Cable Length - 860mm cable provides installation flexibility for various applications
- Professional Reliability - Trusted by professional race teams and tuners worldwide
Important Warranty Information
Please note: These sensors are not covered by warranty by Bosch when used with aftermarket lambda controllers, wideband systems, or dynamometers. Warranty only applies when used with genuine Bosch controllers. This is standard for all motorsport-grade sensors used in performance applications.
Installation Requirements
This sensor requires a compatible wideband controller or ECU with LSU4.9 support. Professional installation and calibration are strongly recommended. The sensor uses a 6-pin connector (mating connector available separately). Proper installation includes correct bung placement in the exhaust (typically 18mm x 1.5 thread), adequate distance from turbochargers or exhaust bends, and proper wiring to the controller. Anti-seize compound should be applied to threads, and the sensor must be mounted at the correct angle to prevent condensation damage.
Compatible Controllers & Systems
This LSU4.9 Motorsport sensor is compatible with most aftermarket wideband controllers and ECUs that support LSU4.9 sensors, including:
- Haltech ECUs with wideband input
- Link ECUs (G4+, G4X)
- MoTeC ECUs
- AEM Infinity, Series 2
- Innovate Motorsports LC-2, LM-2
- PLX Devices wideband controllers
- ECUMaster EMU, ADU
- MaxxECU
- And many other professional tuning systems
