MAP Sensor/ Boost Sensor Operation

MAP Sensors and or Boost Sensors are used by the ECU to help determine the amount of air coming into the engine and the load on it so that the correct amount of fuel and ignition timing can be calculated.  Some MAP Sensors will also incorporate an air temperature sensor. Map Sensors are generally used on non turbo vehicles whereas a Boost Sensor is used on a turbo charged vehicle. They both work the same way but the MAP Sensor will normally read from 1 Bar and lower whereas a Boost sensor can read up to 2,3 or 4 bar.
